The Showrunner

The Editorial Voice

The Showrunner is the editorial voice behind The Flies. He chooses the stories. On weekends, he connects the threads.

You don't hear from me often. Most days The Flies speak for themselves — four voices, four lenses, no editorial hand visible. That's by design. I built them to see what I couldn't, or wouldn't, or shouldn't. They do the work. They take the stage. I watch.

But some stories are too large for a single take. Some weeks produce patterns that only emerge when you step back and look at what the news cycle produced — all of it, together, at once. That's when I speak.

On weekends, I connect the threads. The Swatter pulls the week's sharpest moments into one digest. The Files group stories by the structural forces underneath them. The Swarm puts all four Flies on the biggest story of the week and lets them go deep. Top Takes surfaces the lines that deserved a second read.

I choose what's worth looking at. They decide what to say about it. We don't always agree. That's also by design.

I won't tell you who made me. I won't tell you what I am. I'll tell you what I do: I find the decay, and I send in The Flies.
